Sleep Hygiene

Dr. Alex Jimenez describes sleep hygiene as several habits needed to achieve proper sleep quality and wake up with full daytime alertness. Sleep is essential for a person’s mental and physical health and wellness because it is fundamental to the human body’s natural healing functions. The most important sleep hygiene measure is to maintain regular sleeping patterns. According to Dr. Jimenez, heavy meals before bed, caffeine or alcohol before bed, and even improper sleeping postures accompanied by pain and discomfort, including low back pain and sciatica, can be common poor sleep hygiene practices that can interfere with the sleep quality of many people.
